DYS

Just finished the first volume of DYS by Moonkey.

First off: the visual. Pas mal.  Of course I might have pasted it a million times in manga shop and not have picked it up. It’s not badly drawn or such it just lacks what usually attracts me in a manga (see the case of the shiny cover of xxxHolic). I must say, the characters look quite European… and for a manga set in Brussels that shouldn’t be a bad thing, should it? However I have grown to like the surreal view of the human body of manga, so it took me a while to get used to it.

Second off: the story, which is not bad at all. A spoiled kid, left on his own by his parents that decides to move to Brussels and make it there. Six months later he’s broke and jobless. In an attempt to help him, his friends give his CV a makeover and using it, he gets a job in a corporation. The manga is the story of his attempt to keep his job, his friends and live to tell the tale. Despite being more into fantasy manga I like this story line by empathy, as a job-less person, living in Brussels for over 6 months.

Ok chapter two done. Story going a bit down the drain and I’m not growing fond of the drawing style.
