It is a decent anime. With only 25 episodes, the waster of your life on time spent and emotional value rapport is a good one.
Cast away brat prince Lelouch seeks revenge for all the right reasons, *in his head*. In the process he takes charge of half the world to discover that his premise had been wrong to start with. With enough sins for an entire world on his conscience, he seeks a way to solve it all.
Like many other anime series it takes a while until the action picks up.
So if you bear with the monotony of the starts the action will get a firm grip on you, like in many anime series.
And as expect the end is morally challenging, heart breaking with a dash of confusion/hope, like in many other anime series
And so what if the story line follows the pattern of some many other? In the end it is why we watch them. We know very well where it is all heading; which could point to a certain dose of masochism in the all those immersed in the following of such stories.
I for one, gave up on seeing a happy ending in anime. And I do mean it, from Paradise Kiss to Darker than Black and from Samurai Champloo to Blood+: slow story, entertain action, emotional ties, crash ending as described above.
Aside from this, with characters designed by Clamp, the anime is quite the eye candy.
Does anyone think the Japanese are paranoid? How many series have we seen the story of an oppressed Japan? I’ll start looking into international conspiracies against Japan at this rate. Even though Americans never seemed that highly spiritual, who knows what weapon of godly powers they are building (come to think of it, I wouldn’t put it past them, would you?).
And in Code Geass, they valiantly fight back, yet again.
Add to the mixture above a dash of Light vs. L type genius, mix it with a genuine altruistic feeling and there ya go, Code Geass! Enjoy!
EDIT: Code Geass R2
It’s been a while since I finishe it so I’ve lost most of the details however I am left with an overall very good impression of the show. There are more twists in this story than there are in the act of a professional contortionist. I am glas I didn’t watch the show when it came out ’cause it would have been torture to wait a week to see how all of Lelouch surreal schemes turn out.
In the end the show grew on me and I even shed a few tears at the end. Despite the usual tragedy there was really not much of a way out. One thing I do want to mention: all those whom think of cosplaying Suzaku better stay out of my way at convention, for your own good!!!
