Brussels/Bucharest/Blog

I have been less than enthusiastic about my glorious uni lately. Finding out I did poorly to on some of my exams did not help. However tonight I saw walking home with one of the GeCu girls and she totally lifted my spirits by pointing out the obvious: It is an university, it is the highest form of education. It is suppose to be challenging . And if you make it  you can be proud of your recognition.

With Bunny in Seattle for the next week I find myself alone in Brussels. Two days without human contact up untill now. Thank heavens tomorrow is Monday. Hopefully I’ll find some people to share a coffee with for the four hours break between classes.

My mind is on random mode trying to find answer to questions like: do I have issues? Because I see my issues clearly is that the issue itself? Am I inventing my own issues? Why don’t I provoke random explosions of generosity in men?

As things are going to that “not so safe” zone of thought I’ve put myself on a steady audio-video diet: around 30 Code Geass episodes in day and a half and Byron “Forbidden Drama” for time where I am more than 1,5 m away from the computer.

This reminds me of a character from the X-files who had to come cover the voices is his hear with white noise and of Mao from Code Geass.

I hope I find someone to talk to.

Over and out.

So finished exams.

The first batch of real exams since … well it has been a bit to long to remember. It was a good experience. Now I know I’d better get started now on studying for the ones in the second semester.

It so happened that the hardest exams have been in the morning, at 8 am. Accounting and Marketing. So this morning when I woke up at the same time I had an almost imminent doom kind of sensation. It makes me wonder how I will I feel if i’ll ever have to work in the morning(again).

Christmas!

I’m not a particular fan of the holiday cheer, not so much into Christmas spirit and this was actually my second Christmas here so no special reason to be so so happy that I just had to mention it. Nevertheless, I had a nice Christmas and since they are not so often it is worth a few lines. Somewhere between the family dinners, the decoration of the Christmas tree and the presents I did get caught up in it all and had a nice time…and it wasn’t even my actual family :)

Its almost new years. I see my attempts and temporal manipulation have failed, this year. I wonder is time slows down when you’re older.

Be-lated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Finally, officially here!!!

Got my residence card finally! Long wait.

I almost had all the necessaries to go job hunting…except for a bank account. After a few confusing trips to ING and KBC , a lady from ING  explains to me that opening an account is best done online cause opening one at an ING Office cost €30 as opposed to online…which is free.

So applied, fingers crossed now

so, yeah, this was bound to be written for some time now, i kept putting it off in fear i might jinx me actually being here. Here being Belgium.

Most of the things I’ve been on about so far  is just stuff that caught my eye in Bucharest. As my masters in Cultural Management @ the ULB should be starting  on september 15 in Brussels,  from now on  chances are I’ll put in more things on Brussels and surrounding regions, ’cause Belgium is easy to get by.

The idea of coming over for my masters just flowed together  in the spring/summer of 2007. Having decided along with a friend to look for  a Masters aboard, seeing we didn’t feel all that stimulated/satified by our current educational status. Mixed in together with having met Jeroen and running away to Belgium for a week, coming back to a scorched Bucharest and spending the better part of a dull month in  Portugal. Add  a conversation with the conclusion ” if your ass is getting flat from sitting on it too much, try sitting on you belly” and 3 weeks of stated supplied peace and quite provided by the Ministery of Internal Affairs and my uniersity in which i got to undertake an extensive Masters search, powered by Snack Attack.

I can’t pin point the exact moment I decided to do it, or my “turn left/turn right” moment for the ones that watch the final episodes of the latest Dr. Who season…

Me, on my on, with my guy, for the first time, in another country, in the uni…
